چکیده
Abstract Introduction Hospitalization is associated with acute changes in sarcopenia status older people, but the influencing factors are not fully understood. Pre-admission care dependency level as a risk factor has yet been investigated. Objective Evaluate if pre-admission an independent predictor of following hospitalization. Setting and subjects Data came from Sarcopenia 9+ EAMA Project, European prospective multi-centre study. For this study, 227 hospitalised people were included four different hospitals Belgium, Spain Poland, between 18 February 2019 5 September 2020. Methods at admission discharge calculated using combined score (desirability value) based on muscle mass (calf circumference), strength (grip) function (walking speed). Ratio to was outcome ratio; 1.00 meaning no difference). Predictor variable level, classified into three groups: living home, dependent home home. Linear regression models applied, considering potential confounders. Results Mean desirability ratio for (‘middle group’) lower (0.89) compared (0.98; coefficient ?0.09 [95% CI ?0.16, ?0.02]) patients (1.05; ?0.16 ?0.01, ?0.31]). Adjusting confounders or another statistical approach did affect main results. Conclusion Dependent higher deterioration In-depth studies investigating causes interventions these findings needed.

Hospitalization of nursing home residents in an acute-care geriatric department: direct versus emergency room admission.
BACKGROUND Transfer to an emergency room and hospitalization of nursing home residents is a growing problem that is poorly defined and reported. OBJECTIVES To assess the clinical effectiveness of a pilot project involving hospitalization of nursing home residents directly to an acute-care geriatric department. METHODS We retrospectively compared the hospitalization in an acute-care geriatri...
متن کامل[Influence of admission glucose level on long-term prognosis in patients with acute coronary syndrome].
INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVES Hyperglycemia can increase the risk of death or a poor outcome following myocardial infarction. Our objective was to investigate the value of the admission glucose level in predicting long-term outcome in patients with acute coronary syndrome. METHODS The study population comprised 565 patients admitted with acute coronary syndrome within 24 hours of the start of s...

According to DATASUS1, in January 2014 Brazil reported a mortality rate of 10.20% related to acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and heart failure (HF) on an emergency basis. From January to June 2008, 10,652 coronary artery bypass grafting and/or valve replacement surgeries were held in Brazil1. Despite the technological advances...

متن کاملPredicting outcomes following hospitalization for acute exacerbations of COPD.
Acute exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD) are a frequent cause of hospital admission and are associated with significant morbidity, mortality, high readmission rates and high resource utilization. More accurate prediction of survival and readmission in patients hospitalized with AECOPD should help to optimize clinical management and allocation of resources, including...
